How long have you been in business?
Burnside Neighborhood Association, Inc. was established in 2004, the organization obtained its 501(c)3 status in October of 2006.
What is your primary product or service?
Burnside Neighborhood Association provide service and support to community residents living in the Burnside Community, in the form of positive programs and activities designed to strengthen and preserve the neighborhood.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
In 2004 serveral community residents became concerned about the downward spiral of the neighborhood, high level of crime, gangs, drugs, housing conditions and lack of positive programs and activities for the children and youth in community. The goal of the organization was to change the current condition of the neighborhood by bringing attention to the problems affecting the quality of life in the neighborhood.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Burnside Neighborhood Association is the first Africian American neighborhood association established on the southeast side of Chicago. The organization differentiate itself from other organizations by promoting civic, social, cultural, and educational programs that are designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community. In addition, the organization provides a forum for community residents to identify, discuss, and resolve neighborhood issues and concerns.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Burnside Neighborhood Association currently has one location, plans to expand our organization include but are not limited to establishing a primary site where we can increase and provide more service and support to community residents.
What type of payments do you accept?
Burnside Neighborhood Association is a community-based 501(c)3 charitable organiztion, we except donations from public, private and governmental organizations, to help with our Back-to-School Drives, Little League Baseball, Street Corner Intervention and Prevention Project (SCIPP, etc.
Which areas do you service?
The organization's first priority is the residents of Burnside, however, our programs and services are open to everyone.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
The organization has no owners, its day to day operations are run by its Board of Directors, who are non paid volunteers.
What are your hours of operation?
9:00am to 5:00pm
